Creative Kids is a great way to bring your young children to The Workshop. It's even easier than Open Studio because there are art stations already set up to work at. Usually there are 5 stations, each with a different project or materials (painting, watercolor, playdough, chalkboard, sensory bin, stickers, etc.) At 10:30ish you are welcome to join us for a book or continue with the stations if you prefer. Creative Kids is recommended for ages 2-5 years old. Cost: $4 for the first child, $2 for each additional.
Summer Variety Classes
Summer Variety Classes work off of the $60 six class pass or can be attended individually for $12 per class. The six class pass can be used by any family members and can be used on different types of qualifying classes (EC, sewing, etc.).
Summer Variety Classes are for all ages. Come by yourself or with family or friends. Children must be at least 5 years old to attend without an adult. Adults are welcome to attend as well. Like the Exploring Creativity classes we offer during the school year, these are exposure classes. There is some explanation of technique, but the greater focus is on exposing people to different mediums, giving a chance to try out different art materials. The difference between one of these classes and Open Studio is that the class has an instructor to help guide and answer questions, and the class offers some more specialized materials that might not always be available during Open Studio. We would definitely be willing to schedule any of these as a longer specialty class upon request.

Villages will be special summer classes at The Workshop. These are artisan villages, each with a specialty chosen by the villagers. Some specialty options might be metal work, sewing/textiles, drawing/painting, paper mache, clay, etc. Each village will create individual projects and a larger group project in that village’s specialty. These classes will focus more on technique and go more in depth than our summer variety classes.
· Each village contains 5-10 villagers and 1-2 elders.
· Villagers range in age from 5 - 15 years old.
· Elders are 16 + years old.
· Villagers can supply their own elder (pending approval) or can request elders to be supplied by The Workshop.
· Villagers must submit a handwritten letter of application stating their name, age, specialty of choice, previous work in that specialty, and reason they should be accepted into the villages program.
· Five villagers need to band together to start a village. Upon acceptance we will schedule 6 hours of class (preferably in four 1.5 hour sessions or three 2 hour sessions) at times that are convenient to the villagers and The Workshop host.
· Once a village has been accepted and scheduled, additional villagers can join that village up to a total of 10 villagers.
· Cost: $60 per villager, due after acceptance into the program and prior to the first class.
· Each villager will receive one free session of Open Studio to work more on his/her projects. This Open Studio time will be selfguided.
Summer Sewing Days
We have put 9 sewing dates on our summer calendar. On each date participants have the option of picking whichever project interests them. Come to all and work your way through all of the options or pick a few days that work into your schedule and a few projects that you like.
These are basic beginner projects for adults or children ages 7 years old and up.
Our summer sewing classes can work off of the $60 six class pass or can be attended individually for $12 per class. The six class pass can be used by any family members and can be used on different types of qualifying classes (not just sewing).
