We have been having so much fun with ceramics and now have three options for working with pottery during Open Studio time at The Workshop. Check out our glazing, hand building, and wheel throwing options below. For lessons on hand building and throwing, contact us to make an appointment. Private lessons cost $25 per/hour plus $10 per pound of clay.
Glazing premade pieces
About 30-50 different pieces of bisque fired pottery are kept in stock for people to come in and glaze. These pieces are handmade at The Workshop and include an assortment of mugs, plates, platters, bowls, small dishes, etc. This is the simplest project, like a paint your own pottery shop. The pieces are priced individually. The price includes studio time, glaze, and firing. Prices start at $3 for small pendants and go up to $30 for a large platter.
Create a plate, platter, soap dish, pinch pot, etc. It’s especially fun adding texture with flowers and leaves to handbuilt pieces. Cost is $5/hr studio time, plus $10 per pound of clay. That will cover clay, two firings, and glaze (you'll have to come back in a week or two to glaze). One pound will make a small bowl, plate, or dish. You can decide on how big of a project you want to do.
Use our pottery wheel to create your own dish or pot. This option is for someone who already has wheel throwing experience. Cost is $5/hr studio time, plus $10 per pound of clay. That will cover wheel time, clay, two firings, and glaze (you'll have to come back in a week or two to glaze). One pound will make a small bowl, plate, or mug. You can decide on how big of a project you want to do.
