Special Event in May
The Chalk Walk is not really a Workshop special, but such a cool event that we wanted to share it.
A SIDEWALK CHALK COLORING COMPETITION
hosted by Root for Columbus, a program of the Columbus Public Library
Saturday, May 7th, 9:00am - 1:00pm
(judging results announced at 2:00pm)
Downtown Columbus, sidewalk on 100 block of North Dickason
--All ages and abilities are welcome to participate.
--The size of the squares will be 18x18” (individual) and 24x36” (groups)
--Chalk will be provided. Feel free to bring additional chalk and knee pads.
--This is a free event. (donations will be accepted to defray costs)
--Registration forms are available at the Columbus Public Library and The Workshop. A limited amount of spaces will also be available on the day of the event. (Click here to download a registration form.)
Timeline for the event on May 7th
9:00am - 1:00pm check in, find your square, color away
1:00am - 1:45pm judging (community choice and select panel)
2:00pm winners announced, prizes awarded
Free Yarn in January
Until the end of January, anyone who comes to The Workshop for Open Studio or class will receive a free skein or ball of yarn. Normally you can use our assortment of yarn during Open Studio, but in January you can choose some to take home from our variety of colors, weights, and styles.

I Love My Group Contest
The Workshop is giving one lucky group, class, club, or collection of people up to 25 free entries in the I LOVE… gallery show (February 2015). To nominate and vote for your group, stop by The Workshop anytime we are open from November 7—December 21. One vote per person per day The Workshop is open. Please keep watching our calendar for the most current schedule information. No purchase necessary, just stop by and vote. Voters must be able to write their own names.
Included with each entry in the show is an 8x10 canvas.
The winning group will receive one entry per person up to 25 entries.
The I Love... theme simply means create a piece of art that represents something that you love.

INTRODUCTION TO WATERCOLOR--Sun., Apr. 13, 2 - 3:30 p.m.
This is a foundation class that teaches the principles of color. We will focus on the basics of color mixing as it applies to watercolor as a medium. This class will work on tone, value, and layering of color. The goal of this class is to learn these foundational principles of color which will then serve as a strong base that will be applied to future art making. Instructor: Kelsey Curkeet. Class fee is $20, materials included.
