Class Descriptions

CONCRETE LEAF CASTING--Wednesday, Augusts 23, 7:00  - 8:00 p.m.

Concrete leaf casting is an easy and fun way to add a stepping stone or birdbath to your landscaping. Participants will learn to preserve rhubarb leaves in cement in this hands-on class. The natural depressions and veins of the leaf are captured in amazing detail, and  once cured, the casting can be used ornamentally in the home or garden. Cost is $25 per person.

Linoleum Carving and Printing- Sunday, August 20, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.

Work with artist Amy Knipsheild to learn how to carve a fun and easy linoleum block design and print it out. No experience necessary, all supplies included. Ages 12 and up. Class fee is $20 per person.

Needle Felting Coasters- Sunday, August 27, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Make a pretty (and practical!!) "mug rug" to use under your favorite mug or to give as a gift. We will use wool and a simple rolling technique to make coils that will then be needle felted onto a wool felt base and embellished with tiny beads. A cork layer on the bottom will finish it off and help make it waterproof. Class will include supplies needed to make the mug rug. If you have felting foam and a felting needle please bring them; otherwise there will be foam and a needle provided. Cost for the class is $15 per person

Chainmaille Bracelet - Tuesday, August 8, 7:00 - 9:00 p. m.  SOLD OUT

Make your own stunning chainmaille bracelet in almost any color. Participants will learn how to weave together jump rings to make complex looking jewelry. All materials are included. Cost is $25 per person.

SEWING INSTRUCTION -- by appointment

Diane Dhein is offering sewing instruction for all levels at The Workshop. Whether you need help with a specific project or want to learn how to use your sewing machine, Diane can be of assistance. She is experienced in pattern design, teaching sewing classes, technical writing, and so much more. The cost for private lessons is $20/hour plus the $5.00 Workshop studio fee. Contact Diane at to schedule an appointment.

GLASS MOSAICS -- by appointment  (Glass Mosaic Workday scheduled Sunday, July 8, 12-4 p.m.)

Occasionally we add glass mosaic workdays to the schedule, but this is a project you can come in any time to make.  We prefer people to make an appointment to make sure there is space and time to complete your project. All supplies will be available to make 5x7inch or 8x10inch faux stained glass mosaics. If participants prefer to work on a different project, they are welcome to bring other items such as trays, table tops, mail boxes, picture frames, etc. as a base for their mosaic. A 5x7 piece usually takes 2 to 3 hours; an 8x10 piece usually takes 3 to 4 hours. Cost is $20 for a 5x7, $35 for an 8x10.
