FLOWER POUNDING - by request, (In colder seasons I have a small quantity of flowering plants for smaller classes, in warmer weather larger classes can be scheduled.)

Learn how to transfer the beauty of nature to make art using a hammer, flowers, and leaves. Becky Weidner will share her process of flower pounding, along with tips and tricks. Participants can practice flower pounding while making bookmarks and small art pieces. After refining skills, everyone is welcome to use a dish towel to create a larger art piece. These pieces of art can be framed; however, due to fading, it is suggested to photograph the pieces to preserve the brightness of color in the finished art works. Cost is $25 per person.

The Workshop will be mixing up a new indigo vat to dye t-shirts and other fabric pieces. Participants can bring fabric to dip or can dye one of The Workshop t-shirts. Join us for this textile adventure.

GLASS MOSAICS -- by appointment

Occasionally we add glass mosaic workdays to the schedule, but this is a project you can come in any time to make.  We prefer people to make an appointment to make sure there is space and time to complete your project.

All supplies will be available to make 5x7inch or 8x10inch faux stained glass mosaics. If participants prefer to work on a different project, they are welcome to bring other items such as trays, table tops, mail boxes, picture frames, etc. as a base for their mosaic. A 5x7 piece usually takes 2 to 3 hours; an 8x10 piece usually takes 3 to 4 hours. Cost is $25 for a 5x7, $35 for an 8x10.

The first part of the class will consist of gluing the glass pieces to the glass backing. Then the project requires about a half hour of time to sit and harden before grouting. Alternately, you could do the grouting at home with materials and instructions provided.

Children under 14 need to be accompanied by an adult.
