CONCRETE LEAF CASTING--Tuesday, September 12, 10:00  - 11:00 a.m.

Concrete leaf casting is an easy and fun way to add a stepping stone or birdbath to your landscaping. Participants will learn to preserve rhubarb leaves in cement in this hands-on class. The natural depressions and veins of the leaf are captured in amazing detail, and  once cured, the casting can be used ornamentally in the home or garden. Cost is $25 per person.

Sunset Acrylic Painting- Sunday, October 8, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Join Kelsey Curkeet in an acrylic on canvas experience. Learn perspective and color mixing skills while creating a wall worthy painting. Cost is $35, everything is included. Preregistration is required. Email: workshopcolumbus@gmail.com to register. Feel free to bring your own refreshments.

Basic Leather Workshop - Friday, September 22, 7:00 - 10:00 p.m.

Learn the basics of leatherworking with Kara Ginther, an artist who specializes in carving and sculpting with leather.

Explore the fundamentals of construction (including using patterns, stitching, hardware application and finishing) as well as decorative elements such as sculpting, stamping and adding color. Apply your newfound skills to your choice of a simple leather pouch, phone sleeve, glasses case, or other similar project of your choice. The class will focus on using simple hand tools to create professional looking leather cases, highlighting the accessibility of leatherwork to all skill levels and budgets.

Ages 16+. Cost is $40 per student. Preregistration is required. Please email workshopcolumbus@gmail.com to register. Kara will email participants prior to the class to discuss their choice of project.



SEWING INSTRUCTION -- by appointment

Diane Dhein is offering sewing instruction for all levels at The Workshop. Whether you need help with a specific project or want to learn how to use your sewing machine, Diane can be of assistance. She is experienced in pattern design, teaching sewing classes, technical writing, and so much more. The cost for private lessons is $20/hour plus the $5.00 Workshop studio fee. Contact Diane at diane@designsbydhein.com to schedule an appointment.


GLASS MOSAICS -- by appointment  (Glass Mosaic Workday scheduled Sunday, July 8, 12-4 p.m.)

Occasionally we add glass mosaic workdays to the schedule, but this is a project you can come in any time to make.  We prefer people to make an appointment to make sure there is space and time to complete your project. All supplies will be available to make 5x7inch or 8x10inch faux stained glass mosaics. If participants prefer to work on a different project, they are welcome to bring other items such as trays, table tops, mail boxes, picture frames, etc. as a base for their mosaic. A 5x7 piece usually takes 2 to 3 hours; an 8x10 piece usually takes 3 to 4 hours. Cost is $20 for a 5x7, $35 for an 8x10.
